Ayiti The Cost of Life

When I was playing the game Ayiti the cost of life, what I basically experienced was that the game was about taking care of a family and their basic needs. It also included long term thinking to keep the family healthy and going and to create a better future in four years for the kids . I also realized that how hard it would be for a Haitian to take care of his or her family when living in poverty.

This game was about taking care of a Haitian family, their needs and to keep them safe from poverty and sickness. Games like these are made to get a message out that how hard it is somewhere.

The objective that I chose was health because it was important in every way that I could possibly imagine because if you were healthy you could do everything but without it you would be useless and the main purpose of this game was to keep your family healthy and going with the other three objectives which were money, happiness and education which are connected. If you were healthy you could earn money by doing work, happiness because if you are sick your are not happy and last education because if you are healthy you can study and us your knowledge.

I had to make the family work less to get the money and to educate the children and then also giving them rest in the summer.

The strategies that I used were making all the family members work and earn money and get educated together but at the same time their health was going bad. These were the strategies that didn't work. Parents put effort to build their childrens future to make their lives better by educating them and getting them to work and earn money so that they can survive and take care of their family at a certain age.The obstacles that I faced were health and money to keep the children in school, but overcame them by another season .

Education is a vital challenge in LEDC's because they have other factors to develop and the MDG's as well and i think while doing that they can't overcome to good education.

It is important to educate women because women can an also work and adjust to education and o make the country to develop as well. The countryside can ask one person to teach women the problems they are having and women finding ways to solve it and tell them what is happening.

According to the MDG's Haiti is very low in everything because all the Mdg's are the problems that Haiti is facing right now because of it's climate changes.

Haiti Mini Study
Haiti is a country of natural disaters which we can change little by little,if we try. Now a days Haiti is still trying to recover from the earthquake by the food, water, aid and security service from the U.S.But still they don't want Haiti to be successful and they are showing that they want it to recover, still even other countries are helping it to rebuild it.Before the earhtquake Haiti's people got money through the factories and got three dollars a day ,now they are thinking to reconstruct them but how.It is facing diseases, child mortality, reconstruction and etc every goal in the Mdg's.The things being done are by the U.s. THE BASIC NEEDS food, sanitation, health and water. The childen in Haiti are in a really bad condition because they are being exploited, sexually abused, violated and adoption. The things being done were the security service which decreased these crimes a lot. This country in the future is going to face a lot of problems for future generations until someone in the country themselves take the responsibility to rebuild it.

Action Project Reflection

The action project we have done included a cookie sale which looked like sharks,a reaction painting on what you feel after listening to stop eating shark's fin soup, sold cardboard fins ,had two shark's fin games and had videos about shark fin. The purpose was to raise awareness about sharks fin and I think we made a difference by explaining them about sharks fin through our action project which included everything about sharks fin from the cookies to the games. I think we did raise awareness by presenting our project in a very simple way and now I think yes because I've heard a lot from people about sharks fin and by that we did a good job .If I want to change something in this project while doing it again it would be nothing because we can't do more than that, so I think what we did was okay and enough.

Stop Sharks fin!

Stop shark fining because your killing those poor creatures in millions and now you should know that 95% of the sharks are wiped out since the 1970's.Not only is the finning of sharks barbaric, but their indiscriminate slaughter at an unsustainable rate is pushing many species to the brink of extinction. Since the 1970s the populations of several species have been decimated by over 95%. Due to the clandestine nature of finning, records are rarely kept of the numbers of sharks and species caught. Estimates are based on declared imports to shark fin markets such as Hong Kong and China.Shark fin soup, which can easily cost $100 a bowl, is often served at wedding celebrations so that the hosts can impress their guests with their affluence. Because there is such a high demand for shark fins, traders can make a lot of money from shark fin, but it is the restaurant owners who really "make a killing" in this foul trade. It is also done by long lining which is made of monofilament and are used mainly to catch tuna, swordfish and shark. Their length ranges from a mile to over 100 miles and is kept near the surface using floats made of styrofoam. At intervals of a hundred feet or so (30 meters) secondary lines are attached and baited with whatever is at hand - fish, squid or even dolphin meat.Shark fin itself is tasteless, it just provides a gelatinous bulk for the soup which is flavoured with chicken or other stock. Many people, especially the consumers, are unaware of the sufferring that finning causes.

Now a days people are making improvement and that makes me happy by what little were doing on a big topic like this . Which also gives the guarentee and confidence to sharks that actually won't be killed,to make it happen. We as a global issue's class are making people aware of this issue because this is what we have learned and also our action project. It also what we want to do as a class to raise a voice realize how important andcaring they are to us.But look at us we are killing them for something lame which is shark's fin soup.

Here is a petition so go there and save the sharks http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/ban-the-slaughter-of-sharks-in-all-of-the-bahamian-waters-slaughter.

Global Issue's Living Ethically

In Global Issues I have been studying how to live ethically by looking at the issues we've recently been studying. By deciding about things and making the decisions and  showing the right and wrong about issues, I have been living ethically. Global issues and living ethically connect because  you have to think about equity, show how some things are not fair, make decisions about what you think  and how you feel about it. And this year in  Global issues I am learning how to live ethically by doing this.  I am thinking ethically by looking at some serious issues like deforestation, shark fin soup and poverty  and by studying the UN Millennium Development Goals. We have investigated some of these issues as our action projects and some of them we have just become more aware of.  As you can see from my wordle these are the main things I study in this subject.

Third World Farmer GAME

This game is about poverty and shows how people live with less money and manage everything with it.Throughout when I was playing the game I realised that the SLR that connected with the game was reason critically because when I was playing it I was asking why and how we would save money to buy something big , useful and get more money. The strategies that worked well in this game for a long term were the well source of water, the saving up of money for financial security,Education for the cope of income,Medicine, technology and voice insurance, they are good because you think for a long term about your children and about yourself and they lead to devolopement and increase standards of living for you and your future generations who could help you escape it as well as themselves. The strategies that didn't work and were short term decisions were the selling of children, marriage, drug, more kids, showing off and protection, they are bad decisions to make because if you sell your children you get less money and you use it and more kids means you need to feed more and get more money for your children and because of short term you have to make difficult decisions like selling your children or doing something you don't want to do but still don't have a choice because you thought for short term .Maybe if they start thinking long term they can escape it and by doing small things. The strategies that Iused when I was playing the game were short term decisions which turned very bad because I had to sell my children because I had to get more money and whatever I bought I had to sell it,soon enough. But overall this game is showing how people live in poverty a life in poverty and how we are trying to get more money and help them by things that are in the game.
